Today's NLT devotional had a relevant scripture:
“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.”
John 9:2-3, NLT
So we see that God even causes "bad" things to happen to people when they will promote the Kingdom.

I'm at the 5 yr. mark since staring my monthly free Christian paper called The Good Life and 59 yr. young! I'm wondering if God has closed all the doors right now and this is to be a slow death for the paper. With the economy I see Christians especially not supporting my paper. Holding onto their money when I believe this time (economic slowdown)will show that we were to learn to give more freely and trust in God. I'm praying I'll get a clear answer from God on this as I've always said "This is God's paper; He's driving and I'm running to catch up!"
At any rate, I want to learn more about the computer as my paper has been a blessing to many and could continue to be read via the computer. and since I am the "Paper boy" as well,I could stop doing so much delivery-bonus!! Thanks for listening today. If you have a minute please say a prayer for me today sometime.Leslie <

I really enjoy reading your "reflections"
You remind me so much of my grandfather---he passed away last summer after fighting pancreatic cancer---even doing his own chemo treatments (he lived out in the middle of no-where). 92 years old, WWII veteran, survived the depression and always was inviting everyone he came in contact with to study the Bible. He impacted my life in ways he probably was totally unaware of...

Hi Dr Lester,

I have been enjoying your reflections and you were right my 1999 Gateway will work on the internet. I have question about Twitter. Bethany set Austin up on Twitter and he just put in any name to follow. He has so many names that he does not need to follow. How can I completely close his account and open a new one with only the names he can follow? Thank you for your help.

Here is another 2 cents to add to this topic. When some people people say "just" as in we just want to (insert whatever), they are saying we "simply" want to (___) or we "only" want to (____). In saying "just" in these instances, I do at times, I mean there is one solitary thing that I am trying to accomplish. Whether it be praise, glorify, or another appropriate element of worship. In this case saying "just" carries the meaning of a single intent, and a desire brought to God that He help me/us to "just" do that and not get distracted in something else, possibly less important thing.

I know that no one wants to face the fact that he is not trusting God fully, but I fear this is the case for all of us. When bad things happen, it is for unknown reasons. That does not mean it is for NO reason. Trusting God means that we accept that there is a reason we do not comprehend. If we have to have a reason before we will trust, we are not trusting. It is just the human condition that we refuse to trust God. If we are given healing or health, it is by the grace of God,, because we deserve to be destroyed for our infinite disobedience. I guess this is not very comforting, so I might say that our suffering is the building material that God uses to build the new heaven and new earth, in my opinion.

I think I have a new example of this policy. Yesterday I had an accident that totaled my pickup, completely smashing in the front end. My truck is lost, but my life was saved. So it might be that God intervened to keep me alive for continued service for Him, but He didn't shield me from the loss of a useful vehicle, plus ending up with a very painful knee and chest.
